Karen Gillings provides business management consulting in a variety of specialties, including strategic planning, human resources, business development, and finance.
Karen had a 31-year career at Sandia National Laboratories, where she held positions spanning the scope of both technical and business functions. She held senior management positions in the Human Resources organization, including Acting Director of Human Resources for the Labs. She has conducted Human Resources Seminars in the United States and has traveled twice to Russia to present HR concepts to the Russian security complex. Her HR management responsibilities have included Staffing and Recruiting, Compensation and Performance Management, Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action, and HR Information Systems. Karen also served as a Senior Business Planner for Sandia, as well as the Planning Specialist for the Environment, Safety, and Health organization. She originally began her career as a Geotechnical Engineer.
Karen received her Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and her Bachelors from The University of Texas at Austin. In her “spare time”, she enjoys “living her childhood” dream, while showing her nationally-ranked American Quarter Horse in competitions across the Southwest.
