Philip Crump is a professional mediator and facilitator with a diverse private practice which addresses workplace and employment issues, civil rights, construction, business, education, and divorce and child custody. He is also an experienced facilitator for public and private groups. Beginning his career as a mediator in 1992, Philip has had a fulltime practice since 1999. For almost three years, he was a staff mediator in the Second Judicial District Court in Albuquerque.
Philip has made it his goal to assist people in conflict to first understand each other’s perspectives, and then to give them opportunities to clearly and safely articulate their own needs and interests, with regard not only to the substantive issues but also the character of the process. With mutual understanding, people are more able to make durable cooperative decisions.
In over 19 years of practice, Philip has mediated employment issues for numerous local, state and federal agencies. For several years, he and a partner provided training in mediation and conflict resolution for state employees, as part of the state government’s ongoing ADR program. He is currently a contract mediator with the U.S. Postal Service and with the Special Education Office of the NM Public Education Department. Additionally, he provides mediation for disability complaints filed with the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a former Board member of the Northern New Mexico Human Resource Association and of the New Mexico Mediation Association.
